How to book an exam
Once a new application has been checked, all references have been verified and documents have been processed you will be added to the candidate list for the ORE Part 1 exam. On average we currently estimate that it takes one month from the date an application is received to the date you will join the list.
When you are added to the candidate list for ORE Part 1, you will receive an email to your specified email address from us containing instructions on how to set up your eGDC account.
We strongly advise you to create your eGDC account as soon as you receive the instructions. Once you have set up your account on eGDC, you will be able to book and pay for your exam online, once the exam bookings opens. Payment of the full exam fee is required at the time of the booking. Credit or debit card payments must be made online, we do not accept American Express or Diners Club International. The exams team will not be able to accept credit or debit card details over the telephone.
If you find that there are no exams available for booking, it means that all exams are fully booked at the present time.
Cheque bookings are only available to candidates being sponsored by a refugee council or charity. Please contact us ahead of an exam opening for booking to check the booking procedure if this applies to you.
There will be one exam date available to book at a time. All ORE Part 1 and Part 2 exams will open for booking eight to ten weeks prior to the exam taking place. Every candidate on the relevant candidate list will be emailed when a new exam date becomes available for booking and information will be added to the latest information page.
All places on exams will be booked on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee that all candidates trying to book will be able to secure a place. We therefore recommend that you check your email and the ORE latest information page regularly for examination booking opening dates. Please note, the demand for the exam is very high.
NOTE: The GDC (Overseas Registration Examination Regulations) Order of Council 2015 requires that Part 2 of the ORE must be passed within five years of first attempting Part 1.
Withdrawals, refunds and cancellations
You must contact us to inform us of your request to withdraw from the exam. Where possible, we ask that you provide as least five weeks notice so that there is a chance to replace you on the exam with another candidate. Please refer to our withdrawal policy page here before completing the withdrawal form.
Any withdrawals will be made available to all candidates waiting to sit the exam. All candidates will be notified by email if there are any spaces that become available.
If your withdrawal is due to medical reasons, we may be able to provide you with a refund if the required documentation is submitted. Please refer to our guidance on this page.
We will advise candidates via the ORE latest information page if there are cancellations and how we intend to fill any spare places.
