Annual Direct Debit

Annual Direct Debit is one of the simplest ways to pay your annual retention fee (ARF) and provides you with a number of advantages.

1. You will be protected by three important safeguards:

  • An immediate money back guarantee from your bank in the event of an error.
  • Advance notice if the date or amount changes at any time.
  • The right to cancel at any time.

2. Your payment is made automatically. This will ensure that your fee is never forgotten.

3. Once your Direct Debit is set up, you won’t have to contact us to make a payment or write a cheque each time your ARF is due.

Key dates for dentists: Annual Direct Debit

The key dates for dentists’ pay by instalments Direct Debits will be set later this year. We will also write to dentists in November 2023 with information about their annual renewal.

Please remember, the annual Direct Debit only takes care of the payment part of your annual renewal. To complete your annual renewal, you must still login to eGDC to make your indemnity declaration and CPD statement.

If you have a Direct Debit set up to pay your ARF we will claim the fee as one sum from your bank account.

If we receive notice from a bank that an annual Direct Debit payment has failed, we will write to the Registrant to advise that payment is still required by the ARF payment deadline.

Please remember to let us know immediately by contacting us here or in writing if your Direct Debit bank details change. If you forget to do this, we may not be able to claim your ARF by Direct Debit. This could put your registration at risk and result in you being removed from the register for non-payment and not being able to practise in the UK.

How to set up your annual Direct Debit online

You can set up an annual Direct Debit on eGDC. If you do not have an eGDC account you will need to create one first. An eGDC account allows you to manage your registration online. You can also use it to update your contact information, set up, cancel or amend a Direct Debit and log your continuing professional development (CPD) hours.
