Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee to step down from the GDC Council

08 July, 2021

Crispin Passmore has confirmed that he is to step down from the GDC Council at the end of December 2021, to focus on other commitments.

As a Lay Council member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, Crispin has been a member of Council since 1 October 2017.

Crispin runs his own consultancy business (Passmore Consulting) where he works with law firms, legal businesses and regulators around the world.  He is also stepping down as a non-executive and Chair of ARC at Citizen Housing.

Bill Moyes, Chair of Council, said:

“I thank Crispin for his service to the GDC. Crispin has brought excellent challenge to our thinking about our role in protecting the public and his experience and insight has served us well. I’m pleased that he will continue with this role until the end of December and be part of our transition to a new Chair of Council in October.”

The Council is the GDC's strategic body. It decides policy, sets strategic direction and approves key organisational changes. The Council works to promote public safety and ensure that the public have confidence in the dental profession.

Crispin confirmed:

“I have greatly enjoyed my role on Council as an opportunity to bring my experience of public policy making to scrutinise the work of GDC and challenge our appetite for risk. I look forward to continuing to set a positive tone in these areas for the next few months and ensuring a smooth handover of my role and the Audit and Risk Committee.”
