Council Meetings generally take place in public at the GDC offices and occasionally other locations. However, due to COVID-19, Council meetings are taking place online until further notice.
If you'd like to attend an online Council meeting, please get in touch.
The agenda and papers are made available on our website ahead of the meeting.
If you have any questions that relate to matters listed on the Council's agenda for the next meeting then please complete our online form.
If your question is received at least three working days prior to the meeting date then a verbal response will be given at the meeting, in most cases. If your question is received outside this time or where the matter is complex and a response cannot be formulated before the meeting then a written response will be provided within seven to 15 working days after the meeting. In both instances the question and response will be appended to the relevant meeting minutes. Questions and their responses will also be published on this page.
Like all regulators and other public bodies, a limited number of sensitive items may need to be considered confidentially. These are kept to a minimum and are items which, if disclosed, could impact on the GDC’s ability to regulate the dental team and protect patients. Members of the press and public will be asked to leave the meeting when the Council considers these items.
The Council is made up of 12 members - six appointed registrants and six appointed lay members.
William Moyes was appointed as Chair of the General Dental Council, following approval by the Privy Council, and he took up office on 1 October 2013 to lead the newly constituted Council.
