Tom Williams
Dr Tom Williams PhD is the Chief Technical Officer at Manchester Imaging Ltd and holds an Honorary Research position at the University of Manchester. Dr Williams has over 30 years of experience in artificial intelligence and a distinguished track record in developing advanced AI and machine learning technologies and translating them into impactful commercial solutions.
A recognised advocate for the responsible development and introduction of AI in healthcare, Dr Williams plays a key role in shaping best practices for the development and deployment of AI-based medical applications. He serves on the global steering committee and editorial board of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering GAMP® Good Practice Guides. He co-authored several influential publications that emphasise patient safety and clinical validity in AI development.
Currently, Dr Williams focuses on the dental sector, where he leads the development of AI applications for dental imaging. Manchester Imaging are the manufacturers of AssistDent® AI, a software as a medical device in use in dental practices design to improve the detection of enamel caries in intraoral radiographs.
