Steve Townsley was appointed Independent Chair of the Decision Scrutiny Group in January 2019 and his role is to provide independent, impartial and objective oversight to the group. He has previously been a senior ombudsman in financial services and a lead inspector and HMI (Her Majesty’s Inspector) in adult education. He was Non-executive Director and Trustee for the Sector Skills Council for Adult Learning and has held senior operations, quality and strategy roles in the private and not-for-profit sectors. He holds a science-based degree and a master’s degree in business administration.
