Monica Matanda and Jyoti Sumel are both dental therapists who hold dual qualifications and registrations, which means they can also carry out dental care and treatment under the scope of a dental hygienist. Dental hygienists and dental therapists are essential members of the dental team, carrying out routine dental treatment prescribed by a dentist, and private dental treatment through direct access.
Both Monica and Jyoti currently split their time between clinical practice and developing their strategic, leadership and management skills as part of Health Education England's Clinical Fellowship Scheme. They are among the first dental care professionals to participate in the scheme.
