Future dental team: their expectations, development and career

Catherine joined Denplan in 2010 and in 2019 Catherine was appointed Clinical Director at Simplyhealth and Denplan. As Clinical Director, Catherine leads a team that provides clinical governance advice to all areas of the business, as well as advice on clinical matters to maintain customers’ confidence. Her team also provides assistance to Denplan member dentists; helping to support them with all aspects of running their practices successfully, through regulatory and legislative advice, clinical mediation, clinical risk management and our quality program. 

Catherine qualified as a dentist from Leeds University in 1992 and after a year as a House Officer, Catherine worked as a Senior House Officer in Newcastle before settling into general dental practice. 

With over 19 years' experience as a joint partner in a private dental practice in Berkshire, Catherine also completed a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law from King's College London in 2013. She is also a certified member of the Institute of Risk Management and completed a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership Mentoring and Coaching in 2016.  

In 2023 Catherine was awarded a Fellowship of the College of General Dentistry and since April 2024 she has also worked one day a week as Director of Policy and Research for The Association of Dental Groups.
