Appointment of new Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Committee

Following a competitive recruitment process, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Butler who has joined as the Independent Member of the GDC’s Audit and Risk Committee.

Elizabeth is a practising Chartered Accountant who has held a wide variety of non-executive appointments, bringing both professional expertise and a depth of understanding of risk and governance.

She is currently a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee at the Royal British Legion, a Member of the Risk and Audit Committee at the Bar Standards Board, a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee at the Regulator of Social Housing and a Non-Executive Director at Connect Health Ltd. She has previously held several other non-executive roles, including on the Audit Committees of the Royal College of Nursing, the Electoral Commission and the General Medical Council. Prior to this, Elizabeth had a varied career in both the public and private sector including as the Group Audit Manager at Price Waterhouse before becoming self-employed as an accountant and consultant, specialising in business start-ups.

In announcing her appointment, Crispin Passmore, Council Member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee said:
