In April 2011, the independent market research organisation ComRes carried out a survey of the public and patients in the United Kingdom for the GDC. The survey, the first of its kind, involved face-to-face interviews with a representative sample of UK residents about patient and public attitudes to the following issues:
- Public and patient usage of dentists
- Attitudes to dental regulation
- Awareness of dental regulation
- Standards and dental professionalism
- Dental indemnity and referrals
Some questions in the survey were designed to allow comparison with responses to similar questions in the annual registrant survey below.
The slide presentation provides graphs and tables and more details of the findings. The report, prepared by ComRes for the GDC, provides a comprehensive account of all the findings from the survey.
