Urshla Devalia
Urshla Devalia (known as Oosh) is a Consultant Paediatric Dentist and national clinical leader with a strong track record in clinical care, policy development and system leadership, particularly in improving outcomes for vulnerable children and reducing oral health inequalities. In June 2026, she was appointed OBE in the King's Birthday Honours for services to children's oral health. She served as President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry in 2025-22026, where she provided strategic leadership, governance oversight and national representation. She also chairs the national Managed Clinical Network Forum for Paediatric Dentistry in England and serves on the SMILE Advisory Board, supporting research to improve quality of life for childhood cancer survivors.
Alongside her national roles, Oosh is a Consultant at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals (UCLH) and holds a strategic clinical leadership position within Community Dental Services CiC across the East of England. Her executive career has been centred on integrating oral health into wider healthcare systems, including as National Lead for Mini Mouth Care Matters and as Clinical Policy Lead within the Office of the Chief Dental Officer for England, where she contributed to national policy, standards and workforce development.
She holds an MBA (Distinction) and is currently undertaking a Master's in Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a Fellow in Paediatric Dentistry, a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, and a graduate of the Harvard Senior Dental Leaders programme.
