Bill Gunnyeon

After graduating in Medicine from the University of Dundee, Bill specialised in occupational health.
His subsequent career has included interesting and challenging roles in different sectors including the armed services, local and central government, and the private sector. He has broad experience including governance; professional regulation; education; government policy; strategic leadership; and business management. During his nine years as Chief Medical Adviser and Chief Scientist at the Department for Work and Pensions, he led the development and implementation of the UK government’s health and work strategy.
An experienced non-executive director, Bill’s appointments have included President of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine; Lay Governor at Glasgow Caledonian University; Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health; and most recently Chair of the General Osteopathic Council, the healthcare regulator for osteopaths.
Awarded a CBE in 2009, he holds Fellowships of the Faculty Occupational Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
