The information on this page is only relevant to you if:
- you have never been registered with the GDC before, and
- you have qualified as a dentist in the UK.
How do I apply?
You can apply for registration online via eGDC by selecting 'Apply to register'
. Please note, you will be asked to complete the route to registration questionnaire.
Following completion of the online application process, you will be issued with a personalised application form to download, print, sign and submit along with your supporting documents. Submitting an online application form could reduce the time it take to process your application.
If you are graduating from your dental school this year and wish to apply for registration, we recommend contacting your dental school.
Most dental schools will ask you to return the completed form back to them and they will then send all the forms in together. However, you are also able to send forms and the relevant additional documents to us at:

What happens next?
You will only be registered once we have received your completed application form, relevant supporting documents and the graduation list from your university. We will contact you if there are any problems with your application form so please ensure you provide correct contact details where you can definitely be reached.
An original registration certificate will be sent to your address upon successful inclusion to the Register. Your full name and your GDC registration number will appear in the Register.
Once registered, you must have professional indemnity to practise in the UK. Please remember that it is illegal to practise dentistry until you have registered and been issued with a GDC registration number.
How long will it take?
It will take up to 10 working days to assess your application from the date we receive it. Please note that delays can occur if the form is not completed correctly and/or if there are any concerns raised within your application which will require us to assess it further before we can register you.
Kindly ensure that you have included all requested documents to avoid longer processing times.
