The Council is made up of 12 members - 6 appointed registrants and 6 appointed lay members.

Up to 2 Registrant and 4 Lay Council members £15,000 pa with a £3,000 pa supplement for Committee Chairs
The GDC is looking for strategically minded professionals with a commitment to patient protection, proven experience of supporting confidence in public services, the capacity to understand the organisational and business issues we face, and the ability to provide the executive with challenge and support in the delivery of the corporate strategy.
Closing date: Noon 5 April 2017.

The GDC will be holding a workshop for registrants interested in applying to become Council members on Friday 17 March 2017.
The workshop will be an opportunity for potential applicants to find out more about the work of the GDC and to hear the experiences of a dental care professional who is currently serving as a Council member. It will take place at the GDC's office in central London between 10am and 12pm – registration from 9.30am.

William ("Bill") Moyes was appointed as Chair of the General Dental Council, following approval by the Privy Council, and he took up office on 1 October 2013 to lead the newly constituted Council.
