David Brabner
David initially worked in general dental practice after graduating at Bristol University in 1983. He subsequently joined the community dental service as a dental officer for Eastbourne Hospitals in East Sussex. During his time as a dental officer, he obtained a Masters Degree in Dental Public Health in the mid nineties and went on to further studies in intravenous and inhalational sedation at Guy's hospital obtaining a diploma in Conscious Sedation. After promotion to senior dental officer David became involved with the vocational training of newly qualified dentists for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. In 2008, David was promoted to Head of Dental Services as a clinical services manager and became involved in reorganising and transforming the community dental service. During this time, he managed three distinct services which included the Special Care Dental Service, Out-of-hours Service and Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery Service.
After six years as a manager, David returned to clinical duties as a senior dental officer treating special needs patients. Other responsibilities included taking the lead with epidemiological surveys and compiling service performance indicators. The most recent addition to his work load has involved providing case reports for the National Clinical Assessment Service. David has previously been a governor for a local senior school with links to teaching staff involved with raising standards in science and he was the link governor for Safeguarding. David was on the panel in the selection and appointing of a headteacher during his tenure.
