  • 11 September, 2016
  • Patients and the Public
The 2015 Patient and Public Survey provides valuable insights of the general public and dental patients about dental care and dental regulation. The survey includes findings on the following topics:

Satisfaction with dental care and treatment
GDC standards focusing on communication consent and cost of treatment
Making complaints
Dental treatment in hospitals and care homes
Treatment by dental students
Knowledge about tooth whitening
The survey was carried out by the independent research agency Ipsos MORI on behalf of the GDC. It features two elements: the questionnaire/survey itself, providing robust and reliable findings about the attitudes and perceptions, and depth interviews which allow for more wide ranging discussion and exploration of these issues.

You can read findings from the survey by accessing the following documents:

The Research Report includes an executive summary and provides finding and analysis from the survey and interviews in an easy to read format featuring graphs and tables.

The Data Tables provide comprehensive details of all the statistics and data from the survey only and allow for comparison of the report by age, gender, type of patient, socio-economic status, nation within the UK etc.

The Topline document provides a high level summary of the statistics from the survey only.
