Ray McAndrew
Ray McAndrew has been in clinical practice for 37 years. Ray spent nearly 15 years in England and the rest in Scotland. He started in general practice but early in his career he decided to pursue a career in the Community Dental Service. Ray’s main clinical focus was on providing dental care for children and special care patients but he also provided clinical sessions for out of hours’ general patients under general dental service regulations for many years. He combined clinical dentistry with undertaking the responsibility of being a Clinical Director for nearly 30 years. This provided him with an opportunity to be involved in dental public health activities.
Ray has been fortunate to be involved in teaching both postgraduate and undergraduate students. In recent years he was the Lead NHS dentist for hospital, community and NHS general practice in a large Scottish Board. In this post he was the lead for Clinical Governance. Ray is on the specialist list for special care. He has recently decided to retire as a clinical director, however, will continue to practice clinical dentistry alongside his new role as a clinical case examiner.
