To confirm whether a dental professional is registered with us and licensed to practise in the UK, you can search our Registers. These are updated daily. We do not hold information on whether person works in the NHS or private practice. If you would like to find a dentist in your area you can visit www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk or www.bda-findadentist.org.uk.
You can search the Registers by entering either a name, town, postcode, registration number, or any combination of these by clicking 'find records'.
In addition to dentists, the following groups of dental care professionals have to be registered with us in order to work:
- Clinical dental technician
- Dental hygienist
- Dental therapist
- Orthodontic therapist
Registration for dental nurses and dental technicians is not compulsory until 30 July 2008.
Please note people who hold Temporary Registration are not shown on the registers. If you wish to check a person's Temporary Registration, please call the Qualifying Applications Team on 020 7344 3742.
