Apply for temporary registration - a step-by-step guide
Step 1 - Find out if you are eligible
You are eligible for temporary registration if you hold a dental degree certificate from a recognised University/Institute and meet certain requirements. If your University/degree does not appear on the list please contact us. We will write to you within 10 working days of receiving your enquiry with details of how you can become eligible.
Step 2 - Apply for approved posts
Once you have confirmed your eligibility for temporary registration you may seek advice on employment matters from the National Advice Centre for Postgraduate Dental Education (NACPDE) and start looking for employment in an approved post. If your potential employer requests confirmation of your registration status please refer them to the list of approved degrees in Step 1.
Step 3 - Request an application form
Once you have an offer of employment for an approved post, please contact us, confirming the title and institution of the post, to request an application form.
Step 4 - Complete and return application form
Your application will be considered complete only when all areas of the application are filled in by the appropriate people, are current (where applicable) and are accompanied by the additional supporting documentation. Please ensure that you read the Guidance Notes found at the back of the application.
What you need to provide us with:
Whether you are sending your application by post, or presenting it in person, you must provide the following documents with your completed application form:
*Certified Copies
The Council will accept as a certified copy:
- a first generation photocopy (i.e. a photocopy of an original document, not a photocopy of a photocopy or of a fax)
- on which the person certifying has confirmed in writing, in English, that they have inspected the original document and the copy and that the copy is true
- where the person certifying is a Notary Public, Commissioner of Oaths, Justice of Peace or other entitled to practise law or is an authorised officer of an embassy or consulate
- where the copy bears the name, signature and address of the person certifying
- where the person certifying the documents is not the applicant him/herself, or his/her spouse.
All copy documents must be legible and clear.
Translations
Any required documents which are not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation by a qualified translator. The translation must be an exact translation of the original.
Submitting your application
You can submit your completed application form either by post or in person. If you choose to present your application form in person you may wish to bring your original documents rather than providing certified copies. Please note you will need to contact us first to arrange an appointment.
Please note that temporary registration cannot be granted prior to obtaining an offer of employment in a post approved by the Council. Please do not send any documents to the Council before you have an offer of employment for an approved post.
Once we receive your request for an application form, we will send you further details of the registration procedures.
