We keep up-to-date registers of dentists and Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) who are registered with the GDC. These registers are called the Dentists Register and the Dental Care Professionals Register. You can search our registers. More information on how to register with us is also available on this site.

All dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists must be registered to work with us in the UK.  Working without registration is illegal (in limited circumstances someone registered with another regulatory body may practise dentistry).

Specialist Lists 

We also keep lists of dental specialists. Any registered dentist can work in a particular branch of dentistry (such as orthodontics or oral surgery), but only those on our Specialist Lists can call themselves a 'specialist'.

The dentists on these lists will have shown us they are qualified to use the title 'specialist'.
