Learning outcomes review

We are currently reviewing the learning outcomes for qualifications leading to registration with the GDC.  Both the dentists’ curriculum ‘The First Five Years’ and the DCP curricula ‘Developing the Dental Team’ will be replaced by a combined publication.  The work will be based on the recommendations in the Strategic Review Group’s Final Report to the Education Committee, April 2008.  A range of consultation exercises has been taking place since late spring 2009 and it is hoped to publish the final set of learning outcomes (following a formal consultation) mid-2010. 

The main focus of this work will be reflecting future and current oral health needs and patient safety plus greater emphasis on ensuring the professionalism of would-be registrants.  The outcomes will be divided into the following domains – Clinical, Management and Leadership, Communication and Professionalism.
