UK dental regulator challenges illegal dentistry by Bristol man

Bristol man Stuart Folland has been accused by the UK dental regulator, the General Dental Council (GDC), of the illegal practice of dentistry between 24 January 2006 and 8 October 2007.

He is due to appear before Bristol Magistrates Court at 14:00 on Thursday 27 March to answer this charge.

It is a criminal offence for anyone other a registered dental professional to carry out dentistry. The GDC is committed to protecting the public by bringing cases of illegal practice to court.

  2. As the UK regulatory body of the dental profession, the GDC has a duty to protect the public. All dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists must be registered with the GDC to work in the UK - whether they work in the NHS, private practice or any other form of practice.
