At the end of 2007 the GDC was flooded with applications from dental technicians and dental nurses keen to register before it is too late.
Dental technicians and dental nurses have until 30 July 2008 to register with the GDC. Six months before the registration deadline 20,207 had already registered:

Edward Bannatyne GDC Director of Operations said:
“We’re really pleased to see that so many dental technicians and dental nurses are now registered with us. If you haven’t applied yet, please don’t leave it too late. This is especially important if you’re counting on applying on the basis of your experience as 30 July is the absolute cut-off date, after this the only way onto the register will be with an up to date qualification. I’d hate you to miss the boat.”
