Dental technicians are being encouraged to register with the UK dental regulator, the General Dental Council (GDC), at eight registration events to be held throughout the UK during April, May and June.
Registration becomes compulsory for dental technicians and dental nurses on 30 July in a move to improve patient protection.
To make the registration process as easy as possible, dental technicians are invited to attend a ‘Registration Surgery’ at the events, where GDC staff will be on hand to check application forms, as well as offer advice and answer questions.
Further information on where and when you can attend a Registration Surgery in your area can be found on our website, or by calling 0845 222 4141.

1. Compulsory registration for dental nurses and dental technicians comes into force on 30 July 2008. After this time it will be illegal to use the titles ‘dental nurse’ or dental technician’ without holding appropriate registration with the GDC.
2. The registration fee is currently £96, and will cover you until July 2009 when the first annual retention fee is due.
