CPD – have you done enough?

Did you complete your five-year CPD cycle on 31 December 2007*? If so, the GDC will have written to you recently asking you to complete a CPD declaration form. You just need to confirm the CPD hours you completed in 2007 plus your total for the whole cycle. The deadline for returning this to the GDC is 29 February 2008.

If a dentist does not confirm their completion of a minimum of 250 hours of CPD (including at least 75 hours of verifiable CPD), they face being removed from the GDC’s registers, losing their right to practise in the UK. After the February deadline, the GDC will get in touch with any dentists this applies to and explain the urgent steps they must take to avoid losing their registration.

For more information about CPD, contact the GDC on 0845 222 4141 or gdcregistration@gdc-uk.org, or visit our CPD page

* This applies to you if you are a dentist who first registered with the GDC:
• in 2002;
• between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989; and
• between 1 January 1990 and 31 December 2001 (and were not on the Register at 31 December 2001)

Ends

For media enquiries, please contact Rachel Lea on 020 7009 2782.
