Doing a search within the General Dental Council website is easy and intuitive to use. By typing in one or more search terms (i.e. the words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find) into the search box and hitting the 'GO' key, a page of results is produced that relates to the terms keyed in. The most relevant page appears first, then the next and so on.
You can also seach the site using the A-Z index and Sitemap.
Choosing search terms
Choosing the right search terms is the key to finding the information you need.
It is often advisable to use multiple and specific search terms to improve the accuracy of your results. For example if you are a Dentist looking to Register, typing in 'Dentist Registration' will improve and provide much more accurate results than simply typing in Registration.
Part Words
The search will not return accurate results for parts of words; therefore it is recommended that the complete word is typed in for accurate results to be returned.
Capitalization
The search is NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for temporary registration, Temporary Registration, and TemPorRAry ReGIsTratiON will all return the same results.
Automatic ‘and’ queries
By default, the search only returns pages that include all of your search terms. There is no need to include "and" between terms as it will increase the number of results returned. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will also affect the search results.
