Check a dental professional is registered
By law all dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists must be registered with us to work in the UK.
Dental nurses and dental technicians can also now register with us. Registration for these two groups is compulsory from 30 July 2008.
You can find out whether somebody is registered with us by
checking the on-line Dentists Register or Dental Care Professionals Register (for dental hygienists, therapists, nurses, technicians, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists).
We also offer a facility for employers to check the registration and professional standing of a dentist. More information on GDC checks on dentists' declarations.
