Revalidation

The purpose of revalidation is to introduce an approach to providing continuing assurance for patients and the public that those on our register continue to be up to date and fit to practise.

We are committed to developing an approach to our continuing assurance policies and procedures that is workable, proportionate and cost effective.

An important part of our work on continuing assurance is our proposals for an enhanced CPD scheme.  More detail can be found on our CPD Review pages.

Research

We are undertaking research and information gathering to inform our proposals where appropriate, as part of evidence-based policy making.

Consultation and analysis

In late 2010 we held a public consultation on our proposals for revalidation for dentists.  The consultation is now closed but you can view the consultation document:

Following an analysis of the consultation responses, we published a statement in October 2011.  Our statement can be viewed below:
