CPD restoration requirements

CPD restoration requirements

You may need to provide CPD evidence if you have left the Register in the past, and now wish to restore your name to the Register. The amount of CPD evidence you will need to show is dependent on the amount of time that you have been off the Register.

Dentists

I have been off the Register for less than one year
If you have been off the register for less than one year and your five year CPD cycle has not ended during this time, you will not need to provide evidence.

If you have been off the register for less than one year and your five year CPD cycle ended during this time you will need to provide documentary evidence of:
  • 250 hours of CPD,
  • of which 75 must be verifiable, and
  • these hours must have been undertaken during the 5 year period immediately preceding your application to restore your name to the Register.

I have been off the Register for more than one year
If you have been off the register for more than one year and your five year CPD cycle has not ended during this time you will need to provide documentary evidence of:

  • 50 hours of CPD for each year of the cycle that has elapsed since the beginning of the cycle, and
  • at least 15 hours in each year shall be verifiable CPD.
If you have been off the register for more than one year and your five year CPD cycle has ended:
  • You will need to provide documentary evidence of 250 hours of CPD (of which 75 must be verifiable). These hours must have been undertaken during the 5 year period immediately preceding your application.
When did my CPD cycle end?
To work out when your cycle ended you will need to know when it started. Your cycle lasts for 5 years and the start date depends on when you first registered. You can find out when your cycle started in CPD for dentists.
