Specialist Lists application pack
If, after having read the guidance notes, you consider yourself eligible to apply for entry to a Specialist List, please print and complete the form and send it to the Registration Department.

A new specialty of Special Care Dentistry has now been established.
A 'transitional period' will last for two years. During this time, those interested will have the opportunity to apply to join the list on the basis of their specialist training, qualifications and experience. After 30 September 2010, UK applicants will normally need to hold a Certificate of Completion in Specialist Training in order to join the list.

For all other specialties, please read the information below and use the application pack mentioned at the top of this section.
Complete Applications
Applications are considered complete when the applicant has provided all the necessary documentation outlined in the application form. With your application please provide a Curriculum Vitae which includes a complete record of postgraduate study, research, teaching and employment.
In all cases the Council requires original or certified copies of documentary evidence.
Qualifying Applications
If you are applying on the basis of paragraphs 2 to 7 of the application form’s guidance notes.
Please note:
- All qualifying applications must include the original or certified copy of your specialist dental qualification. If this document is not in English it will need to be translated by a certified translator.
- You can only apply under paragraph 2 if the specialist qualification states the exact wording in the appropriate language listed in Annex 1 of the application.
- You will need to provide a certificate/letter issued from the competent authority, including the exact wording quoted applying under paragraphs 3 – 5.
- Paragraphs 3 and 5 refer to the number of years the dentist has been engaged in specialist dentistry. The quote must confirm the length of specialised training in the State and the minimum specialist training period should be a minimum of 3 years.
Assessed Applications
If you are applying on the basis of paragraphs 8 to 11 of the application form’s guidance notes.
Please note:
- A current senior member of staff must authenticate the detailed outline of the curriculum and course appropriate for the time the applicant underwent their training by a Dean, Head of School, Programme Director from the Educational Institute or Hospital.
- References must be included from the applicant’s training supervisors must testify their experience in the speciality.
- A logbook of the clinical work, validated by the institution should be included with the application.
- To apply under paragraphs 10 & 11 please read paragraph 1 of the guidance notes and include any additional documentation if applicable.
- With paragraph 10, you must also be applying under one or both of paragraphs 8 & 9.
The Council encourages applicants to be explicit with the evidence they submit for assessment. Evidence submitted for Entry to the Specialist List will be assessed on the basis of equivalence to the training leading to the award of a CCST by the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s Specialist Advisory Committee Application Panel (SACAP).
Processing times
Upon receipt of a complete application, processing times will begin.
Fees
Registrants applying to join the Specialist Lists will need to submit the specialist registration fee of £250 with their application. Payment will be processed when the application is received and does not reflect the result of a successful application.
