Annual Retention Fee (ARF)

The ARF is the fee all dentists and dental care professionals (DCPs) must pay each year to remain on the Dentists Register or Dental Care Professionals Register.

Click here to see the fees for 2009 and 2008.

If you are registered solely as a dental nurse or a dental technician, you are due to pay your first ARF at the end of July 2009. The application fee that you paid to register for the first time during the transitional period (31 July 2006 to 30 July 2008) covers you for your first year of compulsory registration (31 July 2008 to 31 July 2009).

We encourage registrants to set up a Direct Debit to pay their annual fee, as increased take-up of Direct Debit will enable us to provide you with a more efficient service as well as cutting down on the amount of paper we use. Direct Debit is also the most cost effective method of collecting the fee.

A Direct Debit is easy to set up and once set up the payment will be collected automatically on the appropriate date. This will ensure that there is no danger of you missing the deadline for payment. For your information, we will also notify you when the payment is due.

If you wish to set up a Direct Debit just click on the Direct Debit mandate form link on the right to download a form.

Please send us your Direct Debit mandate at least six weeks before the ARF Direct Debit payment is due to be collected in order to allow us to set this up with your bank.

The 2009 ARF will be deducted from your UK bank account on or immediately after 4 December 2008. It will be taken as one sum.

If you have any queries about the ARF, please look at our Frequently Asked Questions first. You may find the answer you want straight away.
