Council meetings

The GDC Council meetings are held in public, and unless otherwise stated, take place at our offices at 37 Wimpole Street, London W1G 8DQ.

Our Council meetings are open to the public. Each meeting begins with a public question and answer session. This aims to give members of the public an opportunity to find out more about the issues discussed at each meeting. It is an open forum, and there is no pre-selection or pre-ordering of questions.

More information about our Council meetings, including meeting dates, agendas, papers and decisions are also available on this site.

Fitness to Practise Hearings

The Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) holds full public inquiries into allegations made against dental professionals. The Interim Orders Committee (IOC) can, as an interim measure, suspend a registrant pending a full inquiry by the PCC. The suspension may be renewed or revoked at a subsequent meeting.  At this stage it is important to note that the allegations have not been tested nor proved. This will be for PCC to decide.

Any member of the public can attend these hearings.  They are normally conducted in public but all or part of a hearing may be held in private. Parts of hearing may be held in private where it is in the interests of the parties involved, where it is required for the protection of the private and family life of any person, or where the Committee believes it is strictly necessary to avoid prejudicing the interests of justice.

Hearings normally take place at the GDC's offices at 37 Wimpole Street, London, but may on occasion take place at the following venues:
