Working in partnership

To carry out our UK-wide role we work closely with a number of other organisations including patient and consumer groups, professional groups, government, other healthcare regulatory bodies and education and training bodies.

We are committed to being open, inclusive and accountable with these groups and with the profession, the public, the UK parliament and the devolved assemblies.

We have also signed agreements with some organisations. These set out how we are working together to improve patient protection and raise professional standards:

Memorandum of Understanding between the GDC and the Health and Social Services Boards of Northern Ireland

Memorandum of Understanding between the GDC and the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman

Memorandum of Understanding between the GDC and the Healthcare Commission

Memorandum of Understanding between the GDC and the NCAS

NHS Counter Fraud Charter with Regulatory Bodies

Memorandum of Understanding with the Joint Board of the UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists

Consultations

We also involve others by consulting widely on all new initiatives. Our consultations play an essential part in policy-making by drawing on the experience of key stakeholders in the health care process. They help us ensure that GDC policies and procedures are as robust as possible, and in particular, that they protect the public.

Anyone can read and respond to our consultations. All comments and feedback are appreciated and taken seriously. Visit the Consultations section of our website to read current and past consultations. You can also see our responses to other organisations' consultations.
