Lesley Kant taught for nine years in inner London before moving into teacher training. She spent five years as a policy adviser at the Schools Council, managing research and development work on school examinations. Lesley went into local government as Secondary Inspector and Chief Inspector of Schools, finally becoming Director of Education, Libraries and Leisure Services. She has also served as a Training and Enterprise Council director and worked as an Open University tutor.
Since her retirement, Lesley has served as a non-executive director on a health authority, Chairman of a mental health trust and a lay magistrate (JP).
