Joe Rich qualified as a dentist in 1962 and has worked in general dental practice in Eccles ever since. He is also currently a clinical assistant at Manchester Dental Hospital.
Joe is the current President of the British Dental Association, Chairman of the Manchester Dental Education Centre, and a board member of the north-west division of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. He was President of the BDA's East Lancashire/East Cheshire Branch in 2000 and has chaired the BDA's General Dental Services Committee (1991-1997) and Ethics Committee (2000-2003). Joe is also former Chair of Salford Local Dental Committee and the North-West Federation of Local Dental Committees, founding Chair of the Central Audit Panel and the Central Audit and Peer Review Advisory Panel and a former dento-political adviser to the Medical Insurance Agency and Denplan. Joe was appointed OBE in 1997 for his services to dentistry.
