Mary Clark-Glass

Appointed lecturer in law in Belfast in 1974, Mary Clark-Glass also broadcast on the BBC on legal/rights topics. In 1984 she was appointed head of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) for Northern Ireland. She served as a Human Rights Commissioner, on the Commission for Racial Equality for Northern Ireland and other public bodes. Retiring from the EOC in 1992, she joined the Alliance Party's talks team, taking part in negotiations leading to the Good Friday Agreement and standing as Party candidate in the 1994 European Elections, but is no longer politically active.

Involved in Victim Support for 20 years Mary was, until November 2005, national trustee and chair of Victim Support Ltd. She was appointed a CBE in 1990 for services to equality.

Mary was appointed a lay member of the General Medical Council in 1999. She is now an associate, serving on the GMC's Fitness to Practice Committee, usually as Chair.  In 2003 Mary was appointed a lay member of the Health Professions Council, and in 2004 a non-executive director of the Royal Group of Hospitals, Belfast.
