Laurence Jacobs

Laurence Jacobs qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1971. He has been a general dental practitioner in Leicester for 32 years and has in the past been a Dental Practice Adviser for Leicestershire.

Laurence was Secretary and Chairman of South Trent Dental Postgraduate Committee in the 1970s and has continued to be involved in the organisation of postgraduate activities for dentists, currently chairing the Central Assessment Panel for Clinical Audit and Peer Review.

Between 1990 and 2002 Laurence was an elected member of the British Dental Association's General Dental Services Committee, being a member of its executive Sub-Committee for the last three of those years. He has a number of national responsibilities in the development of IT support for dentists within the Government's National Programme for IT.

Before becoming a member of the Fitness to Practise Committee, Laurence was a member of both the Family Health Services Appeal Authority's Oral Appeals Panel and its Dental Advisory Committee.
