John Makin graduated as a dentist from the University of Manchester in 1983. Since this time he has worked in general practice, initially in Bolton Lancashire, and latterly in East Devon.
He was a Vocational Trainer for a number of years and, before moving to the South West, was Adviser in Vocational Training for the North Manchester Scheme.
In 1999 he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the University of Central Lancashire.
He has, over the years, been an active Local Dental Committee and BDA section member, serving on numerous sub comittees. He is a current member of Devon Local Dental Committee and Oral Health Advisory Group.
He lives in Sidmouth with his wife and three children.
