Whilst in general practice in north Shropshire David Kime qualified in dental technology from the Matthew Boulton College in Birmingham. In 1966 David became a dental instructor in the Dublin Dental Hospital qualifying in fixed prosthodontics and in 1968 moved to the Queens University School of Dentistry in Belfast. David gained the Further and Higher Education Teaching Certificate and later undertook the Graduateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute.
As a dental instructor David works in academic and hospital restorative dentistry and has been involved in the education of clinical dental students as well as student dental hygienists and dental technicians in Belfast.
