Alison Lockyer qualified in Edinburgh in 1980 and works full-time as a general dental practitioner. Her experience includes having been both a vocational training trainee and trainer, she is an elected member of the British Dental Association's Representative Body and has always been very involved with both local and national "dental politics".

Currently Alison chairs the GDC's Registration Committee and is also a member of the Professionals Complementary to Dentistry Advisory Board at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Alison has set up and still runs five dental practices: private and NHS practices in Leicestershire and Oxfordshire, providing dentistry in a wide variety of settings - NHS, private, within a factory and even within prisons.
