Strategy 2010 - 2014

The GDC agreed its strategy at the Council meeting in July 2010. You can see the paper here (56kb, PDF). The final version of the strategy will be posted here soon.

Our mission

Our purpose is to protect the public by regulating dentists and dental care professionals in the United Kingdom.

GDC aims:

• to protect patients
• to promote confidence in dentists and dental care professionals
• to be at the forefront of healthcare regulation.
  

What we do

We:

• register qualified professionals
• set standards of dental practice and conduct
• assure the quality of dental education
• ensure professionals keep up-to-date
• help patients with complaints about a dentist or a dental care professional
• are working to strengthen patient protection

How we work

We will:

• Work inclusively with others
• Be accountable
• Be open and accessible
• Be professional and business-like
• Strive to ensure we promote equality of opportunity and diversity in all that we do
