How we work

Chair and Member of the Appointments Committee

London • £353 per day plus travel and subsistence expenses

The General Dental Council is a statutory body set up to protect the public by regulating the practice of dentistry throughout the UK and raising the national standards of dental care. The Appointments Committee ensures that appointments to our Statutory Committees (which adjudicate fitness to practise cases) are independent of Council and that effective recruitment and training processes are in place. We are looking to appoint a Chair and an additional member to the Appointments Committee.

Chair • Ref ACC/GOV/0609

In addition to the duties carried out as a member of the Committee, the Chair will provide strong leadership and ensure effectiveness for the Committee whilst upholding the highest standards of integrity and probity. You will need experience of chairing committees and have an in depth understanding of open and transparent recruitment processes, professional issues and regulation and an understanding of the governance role of non-executive members.

Member • Ref ACM/GOV/0609

Participating in the recruitment process for Statutory Committee members, and taking part in the agreed process for considering a complaint against a Committee member, you will have an understanding of senior level recruitment processes in the public sector. You will have experience of working as a member of committees or panels and have good interpersonal skills.
