Ian Jackson, took up his post of Director of Scotland on 5 January 2009. Ian manages the GDC’s activities in Scotland, working with the Scottish Parliament, members of the public and the dental profession.

Ian's role is to help us better protect UK dental patients by more frequently and effectively engaging with the people of Scotland and Scottish healthcare delivery and policy. 

Ian was most recently Partnership Director at BT Scotland and worked for BT from 1982 in a variety of roles.  He sits as a ministerial nominee on General Teaching Council, Scotland and is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh. Ian was appointed MBE in January 2005 for services to education in Scotland.
