Code of governance

Below are a number of documents which set out the codes and procedures by which the GDC carries out its governance function. These are the code of conduct, complaints procedure, the standing orders and the committee framework overview.

The Council of the GDC approved  the Code of Conduct for Members and people acting on behalf of the Council in March 2004.

Council approved the the Code of Conduct Complaints Procedure (Word, 70kb) in June 2004.

Standing Orders of the Council (PDF,75kb) set out the way the Council meetings are managed. Further details are set out in the Protocols Governing Council's Method of Working (PDF, 58kb)

The Principles of Managing Interests set out how conflicts of interest are managed. Declaration of interests can be found on the Member's page.

The Legal Framework for the GDC sets out the legal functions of the GDC

The Governance Framework (PDF, 298kb) sets out the additional areas of work which we are currently preparing for the restructured Council. The restructured Council will take office on 1 October 2009.
